FROM THIS POINT ONWARDS TIME PERIODS NO LONGER APPLY (properly) DUE TO A TEMPORAL RIFT CAUSED BY THE SHEER LUNACY OF THE CAVE OF SHATTERED MINDS LEAKING OUT INTO THE ENTIRITY OF LONDON GERMANY... AND IN FACT EUROPE IN GENERAL. THEREFORE, THE DEAD CAN APPEAR BRIEFLY IN THEIR PREVIOUS FORMS. WATCH OUT FOR PIP, HE GOOSES PEOPLE. ALSO, SISTER YUMIKO DOES OCCASIONALLY APPEAR AND SEEMS QUITE UPSET, SO ATTEMPT TO AVOID HER IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. THANK YOU AGAIN. THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN OFTEN, SO DON'T WORRY.

Well, I've managed to, in my semi-concious state, delete that thread. However, we already know what happened.
Synopsis for those who don't:

  • Seras was on recruit duty
  • Integra came in and talked for awhile
  • Integra collapsed
  • Seras picked her up to carry her away
  • Integra got annoyed, saying she could walk
  • Integra offered the starving Seras blood
  • Seras refused; Integra said that Pip wouldn't want her to starve
  • Argument; Seras claims integra has no right to say what Pip would want
  • Seras storms off leaving integra in her room, gets berated by pip
  • Mytha Torunc the 'd' (dunpeal or dhampir) arrives and passes test
  • Seras says that they'll now test her reaction to normal bullets.

^^ Get into it!

ADMIN SAYS: Well, I managed to recover the last post of this! So you sorta get the idea of what's happening.
BTW this is a CG post, me and Odbe, so there's two different texts.

There was someone walking in! Her eyes adjusted to the gloom of the doorway as the figure walked in.
Seras looked up sharply. This woman was not human. It was the first time a non-human had applied for Hellsing. At least partially vampiric from the smell of her. She looked down the list.
"Who are you? And in fact, what are you?" Seras decided, in a brief territorial moment, to be blunt.

Mytha was mildly surprised to find someone here who was not alive in the strictest sense of the word. Given the nature of the organisation, perhaps it was not the most unlikely place to encounter one.
She met the vampire's eyes squarely, determined not to be intimidated.
“I am Mytha Torunc. I believe you are hiring. I would like to join your cause. If you were to object to my... species... you could kill me and I could not stop you.”
Only after the words left her mouth did she realise how they sounded.

Seras eyed her critically. Eventually she smiled welcomingly.
"I'm Special Senior Officer Seras Azraelle Victoria." She offered out her hand and wrote carefully on the writ sheet 'Mytha Torunc'.

Mytha shook the offered hand and made herself smile back.

"Now, miss Torunc. You shall be perfectly welcome to join if you can pass the skills test." She handed Mytha a rifle and winked. "Recognise and shoot the vampire and ghoul targets, head or heart shots, you're being timed once you start, and don't kill any of the hostages!" She had a little, playful laugh at the end and pointed into the maze. "That's the starting line."

At first she was hesitant whether to reveal her skills, not wanting to stand out. She had expected some sort of test like this, and was reluctant to unnerve the humans she wished to work with. It took her only a moment to realise that, even if she gave it her full, she could probably still be outdone by Seras. Suddenly comfortable, she took out the skills test with ease, and without so much as grazing a hostage.
Seras nodded happily. "Well done, Mytha." She shook the... she had to be a halfbreed of some sort... so, the dhampir or the dunpeal... the d. She shook the d's hand and smiled.
"Now, what kind of reaction do you have to normal bullets?"

A thought briefly crossed her mind - not your average job interview. “I can withstand a fair few, but please understand my lack of enthusiasm at being shot full of slugs to see what happens.”

Sears smirked slightly at her reaction. "Well, trust me when I say it's worse on the silver test." She grinned reassuringly. "But only fullbloods have to go through that."

She flinched imperceptibly at the word ‘fullblood’. What am I coming to? she thought with disgust, If I’m going to be associating with vampires, what’s more, killing them, I can’t have this sensitivity. “What next?” she asked.

Seras paused, looking sympathetic. Her acute eyesight had seen the flinch and she believed that she understood the cause. "Well, basically, I either call in some soldiers to shoot you or I shoot you myself..." She trailed off, looking discontented.

Mytha mentally gritted her teeth and gathered her nerve.
“Either. I trust you get few enough recruits to not kill me.”

Seras flinched visibly at this, it having obviously hit a very raw nerve. And it's my damn fault because it's my damn reputation that keeps them away...
There was just enough anger in her to stop her from getting nervous as she walked to the arms cabinet on the wall.

Mytha felt a twinge of guilt. She had been tense to start with; finding a vampire signing up the new recruits had done little to help, and the result was that she was even more dry and stiff than usual.

Seras looked over her shoulder... Oh come on you're sickening! You can't ALWAYS think the best of people, it's bad for your sense of perspective! But she's more bloody lost than me... "Um, to make things easier we're going to use some low-caliber rifle-bullets, okay?" She smiled a little nervously again, hoping that Mytha wouldn't notice how awkwardly cotton-candy she was acting...

She almost felt sympathy for Seras, having to shoot her, but Seras obviously was not weak-hearted - and if she minded she would have made the soldiers do it. Mytha was trying not to think about how much worse it was when she knew what was coming. If she’d ever had an immunisation she would have recognised the feeling.

Seras shuddered slightly as she aimed.
"This won't hurt a bit," she said on impulse.
When she realised what she said she gave a slight sigh. "That's not true, it will hurt quite a bit but it'll be a pretty quick test, okay?"

Mytha braced herself. Rather than look Seras in the eye, she focussed on a spot above her right shoulder.

Seras steeled herself once more, taking careful aim and, with a final gulp, pulled the trigger. Her body was already prepared for the recoil, so her aim was perfect and a shower of bullets flew towards Mytha.

Mytha lurched with the impact of the bullets. She bit back a scream; what escaped her was more like a growl – then the shock set in.

The cartridge was empty now, and Seras put the gun carefully on the table before rushing forward to check on the d.

Mytha was vaguely aware that her knees hit the concrete floor, and that Seras was suddenly near her.

Slipping her arm across Mytha's shoulders and holding her up from under her armpit, Seras pulled her to her feet. "Up we go," she said, leading her gently towards the chair.
She looked anxiously at the d. "Do you need blood to help you heal? We keep a big supply in the coolrooms..."
